[Terrapreta] Successful charcoal burn

Hi Richard & Larry,

Was that exhaust draft stack shown in the eddb136e0a_o.jpg picture venting from the bottom of the wood stack?

Where were the air inlets?
Was the cross-sectional area of the air inlet smaller or larger than the draft vent (looks like 8" vent pipe)?

How long was the burn before covering?

How long was it "pyrolizing" (small amount of air input)?

Did you see the color of the smoke change from white to blue/clear before you stopped?

Was the vent stack melted at the bottom at all?

Were you able to make any temperature measurements?

SKB

Making charcoal at 4CN for our experimental study.

Engineer and Landscaper, Terese and Larry, did a great job last
weekend building this woodstack for a charcoal burn.

restacking wood from last weeks partial burn for a top lit down
  draft charcoal burn

Larry estimates a 40 % yield in charcoal by volume.
