[Terrapreta] Non fuel uses for charcoal in Japan

Hi everyone,

That disclaimer at the bottom -> "These are some of the many supposed
effects of charcoal, though whether charcoal really provides such benefits
remains for the individual to confirm for himself"

Call me whatever - non-believer, rude, blunt, etc. When I see something
like that, I just look that "gift horse" in the mouth just a little bit
longer than some. I ask too many questions for the purveyor of those wares.
I think out loud about "how in the hell?" and I actually will debate anyone,
if they protest any about my disbelief in their claims. Maybe it would
better to stay "shut up" and let individuals think what they might. But
then, there would be no discussions.

My non-charcoal pillow "emits far infrared rays" too, that's like "heat",
right?) when I lay my head or shoulders onto it. They are never sore
afterwards. Those must be "healing rays".

Sarcasm is not a totally ineffective persuasive tactic. But, if can be
funny. It can serve to enlighten. It can "piss off" people who like to
treat you like you're dumb and or naïve, just because you don't have PhD
after your no name. In the face of continued "testing" of my belief's by
others, I unfortunately resort to sarcasm. Please excuse me for that if it
bothers anyone.

Regards,

SKB

Subject: [Terrapreta] Non fuel uses for charcoal in Japan

All,

As long as we’re making charcoal we should be aware of these other non-fuel
uses for charcoal in Japan.

“New (2000) non-fuel uses of charcoal include:

a.	Putting three or four pieces of charcoal in a washing machine to
remove solvent stains from textiles without using detergent.
b.	Applying a charcoal face pack to remove liver spots, freckles and
wrinkles and to whiten the skin.
c.	Spreading charcoal under the floor to protect buildings and keep
away termites and cockroaches, etc.
d.	Sleeping on a bed made from 200-300kg of charcoal. (This gives off
negative ions, allowing one to sleep more soundly and reducing the amount of
sleep required.)
e.	Drinking good quality water and charcoal powder every morning to
improve one's bowel movements.
f.	Bathing in a bath with pieces of charcoal floating in it to
alleviate stress.
g.	Drinking in the pyroligneous acid contained in charcoal smoke to
improve the functioning of the liver. (This is because toxins in the
environment do not enter the body.)
h.	Placing charcoal by electronic appliances such as computers, TVs and
microwave ovens to prevent harm from electromagnetic radiation.
i.	Using charcoal pillows to ease insomnia and also stiff shoulders,
lumbago, etc. (The reason is that the charcoal emits far-infrared rays
which, in the case of the human body, penetrate every single capillary.)

These are some of the many supposed effects of charcoal, though whether
charcoal really provides such benefits remains for the individual to confirm
for himself.”
