[Terrapreta] agri-char market price.

Hi Brian,

As there is no established market for Agrichar there is hence no current
market-price. This is one of the major challenges we have in
commercialising the pyrolysis technology for this application. You can
buy bulk charcoal in Australia for around AUS$500/tonne, however this
makes it too expensive for most soil applications (and it is made in
quite greenhouse unfriendly means).

If I could get an off-take agreement for someone to take 5-10 thousand
tonnes per year at a given price then this would make a huge difference
in getting project finance for a commercial scale pyrolysis plant to be
built.

At $200/tonne this would allow for the economics of one of our plants to
work in many scenarios. Of course there are niche opportunities, for
example where the cost of energy is high or the cost of waste biomass
management is high, where the economics can be very lucrative without
the need to put a price on the char. If you establish a low value on the
char product however, then you are limiting the ability to roll out the
technology to a level which can make a difference on a climate change
scale.

BEST has been assessing the opportunities to build a pyrolysis plant in
Cashton Wisconsin where our biodiesel plant is. So if you would like say
5 thousand tonnes of Agrichar a year for the next 'x' number of years we
would be more than happy to talk. We also have a research facility with
a continuous 40kg/hour pyrolysis plant and an 18L batch pyrolysis
reactor at Green bay Wisconsin.

Group,

I am curious as to the market price for agri-char. I have read ~ $200/t
and
am looking for some confirmation.

Seems like a steal for the benefits and that ROI is about 1 year with
4200/t pricing.

Also...is there anyone near NE Wisconsin that is producing agri-char? I
would like to talk.

Brian Hans
