Dear All,

I remember reading an article about fungus and bacteria based soil. As I 
recall, forest soil was fungus based and field soil was bacteria based.

If one converted a forest plot to a field plot the field plants did poorly but 
in time the soil would be converted into a bacteria based soil and the plants 
would perform normally.

Of course it was visa versa for planting trees on field soil.
