  The twin quotes also reflect the extraordinary urgency of our predicament.   Or their speed. According to the May 2007 report from the National Snow and Ice Data Center<http://nsidc.org/news/press/2007_seaiceminimum/20070810_index.html>, polar ice is melting significantly faster than computer models of climate calculate, and the Arctic Sea could be free of summer ice by 2020 - 30 years earlier than the recent prediction by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change<http://www.ipcc.ch/>. Clearly, we are running out of time......
