Hi Sean
Corn stover is very unlikely to produce chunks of
anything. It certainly will produce a fine charcoal
powder, just as paper will.
The terra preta soil is a black soil with just this
type of charcoal. And yes I am sure a few pieces of
wood got thrown in to create chunks.
And "all" meant those that had at the time and place
communicated. The silent majority have never spoken.
These groups do have the character of a democracy in
which philosophical and mathematical rigor is relaxed.
The principal point that I set out to establish was
that limiting myself to a loincloth and a stick, that
I could produce the conditions necessary to produce
terra preta soils. I could take the contract.
I recognized, as a former corn grower, that the only
way that this could have been done with the volumes
involved was with corn in particular. I was then
gratified to be able to confirm that this hypothesis
was confirmed by the pollen evidence.
I will also entertain another protocols under the same
limits of a loincloth and stick. I personally cannot
imagine any other way, although there may be something
about cassava culture that also lends itself to the
system.
I also observe that others are now thinking about
corn. I personally know of no prior references to
corn in particular. Prior references would be welcome
in fact.
Regards
Arclein
