Cast iron gates and fences were sacrificed for scrap to build destroyers,

like a lot of government programmes all this scrap including a lot of
historic houses cast iron gates was dumped at sea.
Is my cynicism showing?

My father in Law started the first "Cash and Cary" Grocery in
Australia. (*Moran
and Cato*) Prior to this all food was weighed up and packaged by the grocer.

Food in supermarkets is fast approaching the simple "heat and serve'' meals.
many new inner- Sydney flats are being built without kitchens.

Many young check-out operators have to be taught what the name of fresh food
is.

( "They are figs" euw you see the distaste.

"It's spinach Popeye used to eat it"

Wha?, Who?")

My grandfather's room when I was a kid was full of found nails, alcohol,
buttons, and a huge ball of string. He would go off his head if you cut
string or rope rather than untie it.

How strange and sad for the species - have people forgotten that they can
always escape to the fairy dell and talk to the ducks?
