Dear Nikolaus,

Fascinating report.  Can you please elaborate on what you meant in the  
above quote?  I'm not sure I understand.  You're thinking that the  
magic soil is only in this narrower strip because heat of the fire was  
centered there?  These brush pile were just being burned to ash,  
right?  No intensional charcoal production, right?
