This reminds me of an older book called Topsoil and Civilization (Vernon
Gill and Tom Dale,1974,

) but Dave Montgomery's geologist (University of Washington professor)
perspective with the benefit of the last 30 years of knowledge and
technology gives the topic a new and inspiring look.
