[Terrapreta] Black soil

Is there anyone on the list from New Zealand?

I've seen some of the richest and darkest soils there - because of high
humus levels, proximity of volcanoes....?

Very interesting point! What are your thoughts on the difference between 
"Black Soil" and "Terra Preta"?

When is a "dark earth" simply "Black Soil", and when is it Terra Preta?
