[Terrapreta] Carbon market

Hi Lloyd,

You might like to have a look at this as link to show the massive potential
of biochar in the ever growing carbon market
http://siteresources.worldbank.org/NEWS/Resources/State&Trendsformatted06May10pm.pdf
(Jump
from $30B last year to over $64B this year).

I don't believe what we need is necessarily more websites as much as more
structure and direction so that we can conduct as many tests as possible and
return data to guide others (Christelle is almost finished the updated
design on her biochar data base so expect an update very soon!). Here is an
easy to follow guide if you have some char, soil and seeds
http://terrapreta.bioenergylists.org/files/charcoalab_kit.pdf .

Key points to note are feedstock for charcoal like agricultural wastes like
corn stover or nut shells, animal waste like chicken litter or forest
thinning's (Not hardwood charcoal that came from tropical rain forest!) and
any information about production method (gasification or pyrolysis) and if
possible production temperature (Low 400C, Mid 600C or High 800C+). If every
one on this list did this simple 30day trail and posted pictures and some
details of findings we would all be 100% more informed. Data and structure
like this is paramount to the success of international support as I'm sure
we'll discuss at this years IBI meeting in Newcastle, September this year.

Kind regards,
Rob.
