The "TreeHugger" group and the 'friendsofthetress.com" probably would not like this joke.  Or, maybe it would offend ornithologists more?  But, I laughed when I read the bumper sticker I saw here in a Colorado ski resort gift shop.

              Coal is on a roll; even as coal fired power plants are being cancelled, others are sneaking in under the radar. Fortunately we have new developments in charcoal, now renamed a greeny sounding Biochar. Fire up the coal-oil lamps and read on.

              BIOCHAR: Deep, rich, black soil is a farmers dream come true. Healthy soil is full of life, with entire communities living just below our feet. Healthy soil can retain and purify water, provide an abundance of food, and even act as way to sequester carbon dioxide. One key to getting there is amending soil with biochar.               Carbon dioxide sequestration was not likely the original goal of biochar, or terra preta, developed thousands of years ago by the Native Americans in the Amazon region. But today, as we recognize the cost of emitting green house gases, we also recognize the wisdom of using biochar as micro-habitat to improve our soils.               If you hadn't heard of 1,4-dioxane before, you probably have now. Much fuss has been made over the cancer-causing toxicant in the wake of revelations that some major "organic" or "natural" brands of soaps, shampoos, and other personal-care products contain small amounts of the petrochemical byproduct-one that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency classifies as a probable human carcinogen.
