Tom,

There's a request (below) over in the thread at EcoWorld

It says,

*After reading this post, I became really interested in applying this
technology (if I may say) to a patch of cropfield at my house located in a
mountainous area. Is there any way I can try it at home?*

*btw, the discussion is also very interesting and engaging. I have a
lot of questions popping up as I read each post, and I'll post them soon.

Do you want to jump in? Or, should I invite him ove to here? Or what?

I think it would be great if we can help people get involved. They will
generate important on-the-ground stories and information. I believe that
might awhile to get the formal science
on terra preta but very important anecdotal information can start right away
and play a
good role in the overall process.

I often feel that I need to apologize for the fact I emerged from a hardcore
wilderness defender
background and that I'm really stupid about the role of humans in nature.
But intuitively I suspect that we could build a network of terra preta
farmers/gardeners/growers. I think that the conversation would be generative
and that something would be created out of it. Does anyone here know about
social networking? Should some sort of terra preta community be created on
orkut or facebook
or.....? What do ya think?
