[Terrapreta] Affinity of fungi and crop plant roots to charcoal

The charcoal image was taken at my friend Larry's place in his  
garden. It was charcoal he made himself, compost planted into swiss  
chard. Looking at the parts of his garden where he used the char the  
plants were definitely larger.
