to those who are considering leaving.

i hope you will consider the recent excess as a near inevitable excess
of lists, especially ones on topics over which people are passionate.
but the benefits and unique info and collaboration that emerge in
forums like this, 24/7 cannot be replicated in any other forum. if
you tolerate and ignore the current issue, it will fix quickly. after
dustups like this, things always calm down and the discussion
continues with more focus for a stretch.

tom miles runs the most interesting lists on biomass energy issues
that i have yet to find in the world. he is in a very difficult
position as moderator. he can't just squash people who are off-topic
or generally too much, as things of great relevance often emerge from
the off topic and too much individuals. the line between good list
discipline and discussion killing censorship is so thin as to be
completely ambiguous usually.

but the current episode will pass. tom will continue doing a great
job. vastly more positive will accrue to those who stay here for the
discussion than those who leave for minor annoyances. and hopefully
we will all improve in our list self-discipline, so others can
interact with maximum efficiency.

my only real complaint about the list is that the info is coming so
fast, so good, and so dense, that i cannot keep up with it. . . ;-)
