Hi Duane,
I agree. At the bare minimum, photosynthesis requires water, CO2, and the right temperature range (above freezing and below what? ignition?) Without lots of productive photosynthesis, there won't be enough plant material growing for even food maybe, let alone to make charcoal out of it!
