Hi Carl Wilson,

In reference to your article => http://www.coopext.colostate.edu/4dmg/Soil/charcoal.htm<http://www.coopext.colostate.edu/4dmg/Soil/charcoal.htm> ... You should be careful to distinguish ash from cooking charcoal briquettes (pictured) as different than fresh charcoal made from biomass. It is possible to amend charcoal and other components (sulfur, peat moss, pine needles, certain microbial inoculants, etc.), which can help lower soil pH, even in highly alkaline soils.

Please visit the http://terrapreta.bioenergylists.org<http://terrapreta.bioenergylists.org/> website for more information on charcoal amendments to soil.
