has anyone done any tests as to whether HC only plastics can be reduced to a
char with relevant porosity for TP?

i'm not even sure how well plastics will pyrolyze. i would think the double
carbon bond that forms the backbone of a polymer would outlast the other
bonds under thermal conditions, leaving only C at the end. but i have not
tried this, nor well understand the transformation of various plastics with
heat.

at best, i think one would get a carbon blob, without any structure.

but if so, might there be some way to aerate it or electrostatically excite
it to get a porosity relevant for TP?

this is likely a low relevance use for plastic. but i have been wondering.
