Adding the char to the compost pile will alow the ethanol to be used as a carbon source ( mix well with nitrogen source ). Just dumping it on the ground ( and keeping moist ), the ethanol will biodegrade to viniger ( which is used as a herbacide ). I hope that this is of use.
