Mark Ludlow just spoke about this.  He said Acetobacteria converts the EtOH into vinegar (acetic acid).

  Adding the char to the compost pile will alow the ethanol to be used as a 
  carbon source ( mix well with nitrogen source ).

  Just dumping it on the ground ( and keeping moist ), the ethanol will 
  biodegrade to viniger ( which is used as a herbacide ).
