[Terrapreta] A reward system for eliminatingand/oroffsettingfossil carbon usage

Hi Greg,

If you are referring to Al Gore and his "carbon footprint", I think you are wrong. He is doing things to reduce it, even eliminate it. He, I think, may be one of the early persons on the planet (there are others) who can honestly say that they have eliminated their "carbon footprint" or negated it (he is a zero carbon net energy producer, or will be). I'm going to be one, too. He cannot be in the public eye and say that he has installed 30 solar panels on his home and installed geothermal energy in his home unless he really did do this. Doing this, you too, could become "carbon negative" or reduce the size of your own "carbon footprint".

Al Gore is not the case or even an example of a person in politics who does one thing and says another. Far from it. He is the most active warrior in this campaign against GW and GCC. He says does all of the right things and says all of the right things regarding this issue. You know he is and does.

Maybe, you just can't wrap your head around the possibility that you might have to emulate what guys like Al Gore are doing in order for you to survive?

Regards,

SKB

    Greg (cc Terra preta list)

I see from a different message today that you are behind on e-mail messages. I sent one to you on Saturday morning that bounced, but you should have received it via the terrapreta list. I am guessing

    ********************

I found it, in the possable spam folder - sorry I thought I added you to the acept list ( still might have and it just didn't take )

    *****************************

In it I asked that you review several papers by Jim Hansen, in my attempt to convert you to being a climate change believer. Your message below suggests I wasn't successful. This is a second attempt. If you find something wrong with Hansen's logic, I'd love to hear it (and believe I speak for a few others on the list as well). To many of us, doing something urgently is not being helped by terra preta list members downplaying the possibility of man being the main cause of global warming. I hope you can report back your reaction to the three unpublished papers by Hansen. Let me know if I should re-send the citations. They are the best, most concise, most compelling arguments that I know of.

    ************************

Is this the same data that was found to have a flaw in the software that after the year 2000 added in a warm bias - then when flawed software was fixed the scientest involved had the original data massaged another way for the numbers to remain the same? I'll have to find the artical where I read about that - it was in the last 2 years so it might take awhile.

    *************************

I am not in this message disagreeing with what you say below (there is some truth in there on what people, especially those on this list, have to do). I just have to try again when I see words like "flim flam", "scam", and "Al Gore types"

    *************************

You don't see a problem, with people making a big deal about the environment, how much damage is being caused by all the CO2 being released into the atmosphere - then turn around and do nothing about their lifestyle, that could reduce their carbon footprint?

I have a real big problem with it. That is the biggest form of " Do as I say, not what I do " BS that I have ever seen.

Me? I respect you and commend you and the others that believe in the CO2 issue, and actually live in ways that they believe is proper for the situation - as for Al Gore and the other phony environmentalists, it will be a frozen day in Hades before I ever believe them.

In short, I am a skeptic on this issue, and the fact that flawed data or flawed data handling went for years with being promoted before the flaw was found, only reinforces my belief that the scientists promoting it, are promoting the latest scientific fad with out checking all the data.
