[Terrapreta] A reward system for eliminatingand/oroffsettingfossil carbon usage

Hi Greg,

Business is good for the Honorable (Ex-Vice President) Al Gore, I'm sure. You sound a bit jealous. Good for you on replacing incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent. You're watching. (Do you ever get the impression anyone is trying hard to patronize you?)

Argue for the immediate curtailment and eventual abandonment of fossil carbon fuel consumption and I'm going to start to think your perspectives are well placed with regard to this issue. Keep denying AGW and claiming that the main actor in this debate is a fraud and you're going to lose me and maybe many others too (including those outside this group).

I don't want to remain at odds with you, Greg. You seem like a pragmatic man to me. Maybe we could talk about things we agree on? What do you think?

Regards,

SKB

Ok, Gore and his wife have how many kids living at home in a house of how many sq ft?

When his average utility bill drops to less than my mortgage - I'll concede that he's doing more than flapping his gums.

Until then he's all talk and no show.

Forming a corporation to buy undervalued carbon credits is doing little, but only moves the carbon cost not the carbon footprint.
Buying $400 ( a month ) of their electricity from green sources, does a little more ( must be nice to be able to afford that much green electricity ).

If he is doing so much to reduce his Carbon Footprint, how come his energy usage went up by more than 2000 kWh, a month, in the year after his book?

When he actually demo's that place of his, and builds a super efficient home, then he will be doing something that will get me notice, until then his replacing his lights with fluorescents, is just pissing into the wind as far as I and allot of others are concerned, because allot of us have already done that, just to keep our utility bill under control.

  Greg H.

    Hi Greg,

If you are referring to Al Gore and his "carbon footprint", I think you are wrong. He is doing things to reduce it, even eliminate it. He, I think, may be one of the early persons on the planet (there are others) who can honestly say that they have eliminated their "carbon footprint" or negated it (he is a zero carbon net energy producer, or will be). I'm going to be one, too. He cannot be in the public eye and say that he has installed 30 solar panels on his home and installed geothermal energy in his home unless he really did do this. Doing this, you too, could become "carbon negative" or reduce the size of your own "carbon footprint".

Al Gore is not the case or even an example of a person in politics who does one thing and says another. Far from it. He is the most active warrior in this campaign against GW and GCC. He says does all of the right things and says all of the right things regarding this issue. You know he is and does.

Maybe, you just can't wrap your head around the possibility that you might have to emulate what guys like Al Gore are doing in order for you to survive?

    Regards,

    SKB
