[Terrapreta] A supplement to the Terra Preta concept?

Dear Terra Preta Colleagues,

Since posting this information, I've thought a little more about possible
synergy between this invention and Terra Preta. Over the years I've idly
thought that some kind of mobile farm machinery would need to be developed
to really utilize the Tera preta concept in modern agriculture. We've also
talked about using the hot oxygen free exhaust gases from internal
combustion engines to convert organic material to char. Maybe Mr. Lewis, the
principal inventor, would be able to add equipment to his systems which
gathers waste biomaterial - such as straw - grinds it a bit and feeds it
into a pyrolizer using the tractor's hot exhaust gas. The char which might
be produced would be blown underground along with the combustion products
introducing the possibility his system could be a negative emissions
system.

It so happens I talked to Mr. Lewis, or a colleague, very briefly about his
invention last spring at a climate change meeting here in Lethbridge. I'm
copying him on this message with the hope he might join and expand the
discussion on the list.

Gary, I believe you need to join the list to contribute to the discussion. A

Dear Colleagues,

I just learned that a local entrepreneur and farmer will be speaking here in
a couple of weeks on his invention of a process to incorporate fossil fuel
combustion products into the soil as fertilizer with claims some carbon
from CO2 will be trapped in the soil by bacteria. There are two websites
devoted to the concept and there is also a very long patent application
posted on the Internet.

There may be some thoughts here relevant to Terra Preta in some way.
