Hi Max,

I can't help speculating on what the result could be if the money spent in the Iraq mess were diverted to a massive "Agricultural Corps".

This has occurred to me before as well.  I'm not sure the "political" will would do this exists yet.  Me thinks that "politics" is right now and for the foreseeable future tied closely to energy economics.  Perhaps though,  more pressure on food prices and availability will change this.
