[Terrapreta] Global Carbon Cycle

Dear All,

I very much agree that both benefits should be touted. And I also believe
it extremely important to recognize that government policies, especially if
they have anything to do with agricultural subsidies, are rarely (if ever)
decided on the "merits." Case in point: no one in their right mind would
chose
to produce ethanol from corn (as compared with sugar cane) on the merits.
BUT politically this is a completely logical choice in the US. Right now the

entire world is being primed to give very high priority to global warming.
This
is what it creating a bonanza for Iowa corn farmers. It would be a great
mistake
to miss the opportunity to offer similar rationales for Terra Preta which
has truly
the additional value of true merit.

Just my two cents.
