Hi Sean,
My HeatHut (outdoor furnace) is made from 55 gallon drums and has not burned
out for four years (about). Once a day, I would say, it gets hot enough to
glow red so at this temp plus some CO has caused me to wonder if the FeO
reaction comes into play? It runs about 7 months a year.
I would think at the lower temps that a steel kiln would see one would have a
rust problem.
Not sure what kind of "fire-tube" you refer to.
