I wondered if terra preta was mentioned by the participants and found with
the help of Google there was one presentation where it came up. That was in
the context of archeology and whether or not the Amazon region  is in a
"virgin" state.

I learned an interesting fact -- the 30 countries of the OECD

their agriculture at the level of one billion dollars (USD) EACH DAY 

This is the context of political-economy into which we are trying to 

place terra preta.
