Hi All,
At least TP gets a final word on this Biopact Blog story on Dynamotive's 200
biomass tons / Day Bio-Oil pyrolsis operation, which is optimized for fuel
not char. I recall when I first read of Dynamotive , a year or more ago, they
didn't speak of char and soils at all.

 Dynamotive demonstrates fast-pyrolysis ;

"In a very interesting side-development, Dynamotive also announced that it
is experimenting with biochar ('agrichar', 'terra preta') which could lead to
the production of carbon-negative fuels (more _here_
(http://biopact.com/2007/05/carbon-negative-biofuels-dynamotive-to.html)  and _here_
(http://biopact.com/2007/06/carbon-negative-biofuels-and-biochar.html) ). By storing a
carbon-rich fraction of the pyrolysed biomass in agricultural soils, a low-tech
carbon sequestration technique can be developed. The process has _shown_
(http://biopact.com/2007/06/research-confirms-biochar-in-soils.html)  to result in
increased yields for the (energy) crops that are planted on such improved soils."

P. S. I think Jon & Sean are contending around the complicated soil gas
emissions questions about TP.
My understanding is both TP and healthy organic soil increase CO2, but the
over all GHG effects are lower because of less Methane and N2O emissions.
