Ref Gerrit's comments on Napier grass.

I worked with this material several times a week for three years of my life
including on one occasion acting as accidental supervisor of a boiler test for
several hours ! [ I made steam at the required pressure and didn't blow
anything up ! ]

Napier grass and miscanthus are separate species, but they share a number of
agronomic and combustion properties. Both can be managed either for fodder or
for energy. Both are grown in various places throughout the world.

In the 1980's, Napier grass was popular in the Caribbean and around the Gulf
of Mexico as cattle fodder. Miscanthus today is being promoted in Europe as
a boiler feed .

If anyone wants a paper on the "Decentralized gasification of Napier grass",
send me an e-mail address.

Cordially. ###
