          from Lewis L Smith

Thank you, Lou, for a fascinating window on the debate over Global Warming.

Historically business has always tried to obtain government intervention in
its favor while decrying as "interference with the market" intervention on
behalf of consumers and competing technologies. There is some deeply rooted
institutional hypocrisy here.

More important, whatever the causes of GW, its probable consequences are very
serious, and we can do something about it. Moreover, these "somethings" will
require innovative solutions in which the different participants in the
economic scene must relate to each other in new ways.

So those who deny its reality and urgency or want to "leave it to the market"
are, as the Bard would say, "fools or knaves".

Cordially. ###
