Hi Jim,

If you will note this, I have not been involved in most of these discussions that you are complaining about.  But, ,even with that said, I do believe that biofuel production and biomass production should be/could be tied closely together.  Hemp is a fantastically productive crop in terms of dry biomass carbon per hectare.  Ethanol can be made directly from synthesis gas, which can be a byproduct along with charcoal , both made during the conversion of biomass via pyrolysis.  One possible route to cellulosic ethanol is via thermal conversion (pyrolysis) as opposed to bio-chemical conversion (fermentation of pentose sugars into ethanol using genetically modified bacteria).

We need to consider conversion of gigaton massive amounts of biomass into both biofuels and biochar (for use in Terra Preta formation).  I think that harvesting energy in the form of sensible heat and biofuels like syngas, producer gas, and liquid fuel products that can be further synthesized from synthesis gas, will all be part of the Terra Preta topic.

  Maybe some of you have nothing else to do. Maybe, if we had a /forum/ 
  (It's simple enough to do), it would be different, then we could carry

  hear or discuss. But in a sequential list format we are forced to wade 
  through tens of emails that have nothing to do with Terra preta (the 
  list topic, remember?) or the connection is so tenuous so as to be none 
  existent. Admittedly, I've done my share as I have responded to some of 
  these off topic messages,  but at best this these are just plain time 
  consuming, at worst they are rude. I'm not even sure that some here have 
  any interest in TP at all.

  There must be dozens of lists and forums available for such discussions 
  or, maybe, we could create another list here.
